For the upcoming summer season L.G.R presents six new models – three sunglass and three optical models – and a precious “Snake special edition”. The Italian brand founded by Luca Gnecchi Ruscone specializes in the manufacture of sunglasses and spectacles 100% handmade in Italy, with a special attention to design, comfort and sustainability.
The three sunglass models Comoros, Felicité e Glorioso combine two antithetical materials: stainless steel and cellulose acetate, an utter novelty in the optical field. In a minimalist model manufactured in ultra-thin opaque steel, L.G.R inserts a slender frame in cellulose acetate internally, around the lenses.
Such a complex execution was made possible thanks to Luca Gnecchi Ruscone’s avant garde spirit and to the long-standing experience and manual skilfulness of the artisans at L.G.R labs.
The opaque steel and the bright acetate are created in four different combinations: black steel/matt silver and black cellulose acetate frame with green lenses; matt blue steel and havana 39 cellulose acetate frame with indigo blue lenses; opaque golden steel and havana 09 cellulose acetate frame with green lenses. All models feature Carl Zeiss organic lenses, which are characterized by their lightness, resistance to the high temperatures of sun exposure without misshaping and total protection from UV rays.
The three optical models have instead been manufactured entirely in cellulose acetate, a hypoallergenic natural material, which bends to adapt shape without heating. Norton, Luxor and Sfax feature classic and timeless frames, enriched by refined and sophisticated details. The unisex model Sfax features a circular frame, which is flattened and straightened in the top part; in the woman model Norton, the rounded frame slightly stretches out at the sides; the man model Luxor is instead characterized by the essential and clean design of the lightweight rectangular frame with rounded off angles. All models are available in four colours: navy blue, matt havana, havana 09 and black.
Every two years, L.G.R. creates a limited edition and this year, alongside the new collection, they will present the “Snake Special Edition”. This special edition has been manufactured covering the highly successful unisex model Tripoli with Ayers snake skin, in the shades of black and light grey.
Furthermore, in view of the upcoming summer season, six models from past collections – Reunion, Nairobi, Victoria, Springs, Freetown and Keren – were reproduced in different shades of colour such as aqua, navy blue, havana, red and lilac.
All L.G.R models are named after evocative locations within the African continent, to pay tribute to the trip to Asmara, Eritrea, that Luca Gnecchi Ruscone made a few years ago during which he decided to start his business.
